After reading the first book in this series, I immediately jumped into the second. Quite literally, I purchased and started to download this book when I got to the last chapter of the first.

I enjoyed reading the continuing journey of Kvoth. This second book takes him to further places and on more adventures than the first. I read as he grew into more of a man than the boy of the first novel.

Kvoth has many flaws, as all good characters do. While the story is told by him, he doesn’t hide his mistakes and, for that, I find myself yelling at young Kvoth in my head as he errs. He is woefully arrogant at times and his temper is quick to anger. Because of this, Kvoth’s troubles and arguments can almost be predicted. We can be sure that he will end up in an argument most of the time. I’m on the edge of my seat each time, wondering how he is going to get himself out of each of the predicaments he gets himself into. And, each time, I’m hoping he will learn and grow to become more humble.

Traveling with this young man, I find myself pulled into the story in such a wonderful way. I can’t wait for the third book in the series.
